Big Image Pushes Creative Boundaries with Fotografiska Stockholm

For the exhibition "ToiletFotoPaperGrafiska" at Fotografiska Stockholm, Big Image printed on a wide range of materials – including foil, lamellas, three-dimensional figures, and their own stage flooring Clear Stage. This was all done to help Fotografiska Stockholm realize their vision of a hyper-visual, surreal experience.

A Three-Dimensional Experience

“This is a project where we’ve truly pushed the boundaries of what we can create, and that’s exactly the kind of challenge we love,” says Alexander Andrae at Big Image.

TOILETPAPER is internationally known for its colorful and often provocative imagery. The brand was created by artists Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari. The vision for the exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm was to create a bizarre labyrinth – a three-dimensional experience where visitors are fully immersed in the artists’ photos, films, and installations.

For the exhibition, Big Image premium printed several of TOILETPAPER’s colorful motifs – not only on foil, but also on carpet, lamellas, and cut-out figures with hand-painted edges to blend seamlessly into the exhibition space. All to achieve the exact feeling envisioned by the artist duo and Fotografiska.

Big Image is known for producing the world’s largest seamless images on fabric. With the help of a new printer, the company is now stepping into a broader world of materials – where both hard and soft surfaces can be used to bring customers’ visions to life.

In Fotografiska’s exhibition of TOILETPAPER’s visual world, Big Image was challenged both technically and creatively – and the result can be experienced at Fotografiska Stockholm until June 8. The exhibition is also on view at Fotografiska Berlin through August 31.
