About

What happens when one of Sweden’s most beloved artists sets out to bring his wildest live show vision to life at Scandinavia’s largest stadium Ullevi, with over 70,000 people surrounding him?

A 360° Stage at Ullevi

For over 20 years, Håkan Hellström had a vision: to perform in the middle of his audience, completely surrounded and close to everyone. This summer, at Scandinavia’s largest stadium, that idea finally came to life with a 360° stage built from open shipping containers and sweeping platforms. Big Image created the seamless 900 m² stage surface using our own-developed Clear Stage flooring.

For the first time, Ullevi’s stage stood at the exact centre of the arena. The structure was built with real shipping containers left open so people could walk through them while long platforms stretched like bridges, letting the band move, dance, and connect from every angle.

From Container Terminal to Concert Stage

The design was led by Tobias Rylander, renowned for his work with Beyoncé, FKA twigs, The 1975, and more. The concept was rooted in Gothenburg’s industrial heritage, with scenic references to the harbour, the container terminal, and the Eriksberg crane which set the visual style.

Material Choices and Technical Demands

Big Image produced 900 m² of Clear Stage with the artwork printed on the backside of the material, which means the image is protected and colors stay strong. The printing process was extensive and carefully controlledwith built-in testing at every stageensuring sharp resolution both up close and from a distanceverifying color rendering, and rolling out the flooring on the production floor for a full quality check. Each step was designed to secure consistency across the vast surface and to make sure the artwork performed under demanding conditions. On site, Big Image supported the installation – laying panels in a planned order, aligning joins, and making small tweakssince it’s all in the details.
